Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true. The year is certainly going quickly. It is nearly the end of term 3 with our children busy learning about the world; parents are raising funds for the school and finding new ways to be involved in the community that lives and grows around it. Glebe School is so much more than what happens between the bells that mark the start of the school day and the end (or some modern-fangled electric thing which passes for a school bell these days). Zonya Agleam has stepped down from her role as P&C president after a year and a half. We are all enormously thankful for the terrific things she has accomplished in that time. This is not farewell, since Zonya is continuing to be involved in many things P&C. Again, thank you Zonya for carrying the P&C forward in important ways. However this is a great opportunity for any parents lurking on the edges and not sure how to get involved. At our next meeting at 6pm on 20th September you could run for president, propose an event, help out, have your say on what the P&C does next, or just watch what happens. Everyone is welcome. The P&C is a group of people who raise money, organise events, guide the school on what parents and students need and have a good laugh while doing all that. The P&C has been busy recently. Bec, Zonya and Verity organised items for the Fathers' Day stall last week. Chris, Anna, Bec, Rachael and Brett again raised funds by selling second hand bits and bobs at the Saturday Market stall with thanks to Kim from Centipede. Anna and Bec sold our fabulous Glebe t-shirts (designed by Thea) at the Sunday Makers Market in St John's Church Hall. Trivia Night at the Forest Lodge Hotel is going to be a huge event. For $15 you get Gourmet Pizza and salad, one of the Chaser boys as MC, and a night that will be talked about for years. Tickets are available through Verity, Brett, Bec or Chris. Friday 12 October is the date to put in your diaries, and we have only a limited number of tickets left. I am thrilled to be involved with the P&C. The number of people putting in their valuable time and making exciting things happen has never been greater. Ari Maniatis Glebe School P&C |
