P&C Meeting Monday Night Thank you to those who attended our last P&C meeting for Term 1. Our guest speaker was Jane Stanley, the Aboriginal Education and Engagement Advisor for our region who shared with us about some of the history regarding education for Aboriginal students and talked about her team's vision for the future. We heard from Vicki about the school plan and also about upcoming dates for the diary. We also heard back from our grants, events and merchandise sub-committees on the work they have been doing since the last meeting. A date for the diary - our Events committee are working hard towards bringing you our 2015 Trivia Night at the Forest Lodge Hotel on Saturday 13th June. Election Day at Forest Lodge Public School - tomorrow On Saturday 28th of March, Forest Lodge Public School will be hosting voters in the 2015 State Election. They are providing a sausage sizzle, face painting etc, and have invited us to sell tshirts. Kait Gotham is coordinating the tshirt stall if anyone has any time to help her out between 9am and 2pm that would be great.. They will also be holding a Kids Toy Sale/Swap meet to which children from Glebe Public School are invited. The details are that kids bring toys to sell/swap and a blanket to lay toys out on. Kids donate $2 to "hold" a stall and the money from any sales they make can be kept by the child. Next P&C Meeting - AGM - 28th April Joining the P&C Association is a great way to keep informed, to contribute to the education of your children and to make new friends. Not only will you be supporting the school community but you will be supported by the school community. You can learn new skills, and gain a clear understanding of how the school operates. Joining the P&C at Glebe Public School is a great opportunity to share in the school’s decision-making process and shape the future. At next term's AGM positions of president, vice president, treasurer and secretary will be available for election, or you can become a general untitled member of the committee. I have had a few queries about these positions and what they mean, very broadly: The President provides leadership to the P&C including presiding at and chairing meetings of the P&C, acting as a representative of the P&C on committees such as the markets committee and in other liaison with the school and fostering good communication between the P&C, the school and the wider community The Vice President provides support and assistance to the President, particularly representing the P&C on behalf of the President when the President is not able to do so - we can have up to two Vice President Positions The Secretary prepares and manages correspondence on behalf of the P&C, prepares and collates meeting agendas, takes minutes at meetings The Treasurer is responsible for the financial management of the P&C, preparing and presenting financial statements and budgets including the annual statement which is then audited In practice, the way we operate is to support each other in all of these roles We welcome all parents and carers to come and participate in this democratic process, to take the opportunity to come and learn more about the school and become more connected to other parents at staff here at Glebe Public School.
